Case Study: Multi-Family Community Large Loss Restoration

Millions of Americans call multi-family housing communities home. In fact, research has shown that there were approximately 43 million housing units occupied by renters in the United States in the year 2020 (Statista). Inside these multi-family housing units were people of all stages of life, singles, newly married, college students, families, senior citizens, and a combination of them all. Each of these individuals expects their apartment home to be a place of comfort, rest, renewal and safety. But when emergencies happen, that’s not always the case.

An extreme cold spell led to a burst sprinkler line on the top floors of two multi-family buildings affecting 24 units with a Category 3 water loss. A category 3 water loss involves water that is contaminated and may contain harmful substances such as silt, organic matter, pesticides, heavy metals, regulated materials and toxic organic substances.

With this level of destruction, Sasser Restoration was immediately dispatched to handle mitigation and repairs for all 24 units and hundreds of residents. And not only were the residents displaced because of the water damage done to their homes but there was also damaged electrical systems which left all residents without electricity or heat.

Sasser had a team of 25 large-loss mitigation experts onsite within 2 hours of the call with temporary power, temporary heat, and the necessary equipment to mitigate further damage. Sasser coordinated remediation, repairs, and contents restoration individually with all 24 affected units and hundreds of residents.

On this particular job, Sasser handled $475,000 in mitigation and repairs while bringing this building back to life for the management company and the residents who call this place home.
